Bertrand Dautzenberg & Jean-Yves Nau Plagiarism Cancer. Its FARES Reaching Metastases in Belgium, Harbingers of Antismoking Totalitarianism

Patrick Plagiat d’Arvor, Bertrand et Jean-Yves. Le plagiat , cette habitude bien française…

[NOTE (APOLOGY!), added later: sorry, the posting of this article is the result of a technical error. This site having an English and French side, we actually took one for the other (as the famous ««waterpipe»»™  experts do when they take in their "peer-reviewed" rocket studies one shisha smoking product for the other....). Indeed, we are sincere. In general,  returning readers will have noted that when we feel that a French article may be of interest to an English-speaking audience, we immediately provide the link together with an English summary. The title reads (for those who want to know): "Plagiarism by Patrick Poivre d’Arvor (a famous newsreader on Channel Two  "France 2", France) in « his » biography of Ernest Hemingway. The article argues that with the plagiarized (Kamal)'s scientific books and articles on hookah smoking by Bertrand Dautzenberg (president Office Francais du Tabagisme, sort of French "Action on Smoking and Health") and Jean-Yves Nau (another journalist with Le Monde (!), a national newspaper in France),  PLAGIARISM SEEMS TO BE A GOOD OLD INGRAINED HABIT IN  FRANCE !]

Le plagiat commis par Patrick Poivre d’Arvor (« sa » biographie du grand écrivain Ernest Hemingway) ett révélé par Jérôme Dupuis dans l’Express est frappant par la similarité de la technique (comme les mythes, elle semble être universelle...) avec un autre plagiat dont nous avons parlé sur ce site : celui de Bertrand Dautzenberg (président de l’OFT, Office Français du Tabagisme) et Jean-Yves Nau, journaliste des pages médicales au journal Le Monde:

 

Jérôme Dupuis (L’Express): « Il est plutôt rare, en matière de biographie, que le nom de l'auteur figure en caractères plus visibles que celui du "portraituré". C'est pourtant l'honneur fait à Patrick Poivre d'Arvor pour la volumineuse biographie (414 pages) de Hemingway, qu'il publie, le 19 janvier, à l'occasion du cinquantenaire de la mort de l'écrivain américain, disparu en 1961. »

Observatoire Narguilé ou Santé : Le « livre » de Bertrand Dautzenberg et Jean-Yves Nau est, lui, préfacé par l’auteur lui-même ! Quant à l’honneur, ces auteurs ont publié leur forfait moins de 2 mois (juin 2007) après celui de Kamal (mars 2007) ! Voir les références plus loin.

Jérôme Dupuis (L’Express): « Les "emprunts" opérés par le journaliste-écrivain sont manifestes, massifs, et comme portés par un étonnant sentiment d'impunité. »

Observatoire Narguilé ou Santé : idem. Surtout quand on occupe avec ses troupes le Ministère de la Santé de la République Française et que votre acolyte se charge de vous offrir des tribunes dans le plus « grand » quotidien national.

Jérôme Dupuis (L’Express): « Selon notre enquête, ce sont près de 100 pages de son Hemingway, la vie jusqu'à l'excès qui sont directement inspirées de l'ouvrage de Griffin, sans qu'aucuns guillemets le signalent. Des dizaines et des dizaines de paragraphes s'apparentent à des "copier-coller", souvent grossièrement maquillés par des inversions de phrases ou l'usage effréné de synonymes (voir fac-similés). »

Jérôme Dupuis (L’Express): « On s'amusera de voir le "lait condensé" de Griffin devenir du "lait concentré" sous la plume de PPDA, un "maréchal-ferrant" se transformer en "forgeron" et l'"opulente chevelure auburn ramassée en chignon" de la future épouse de Hemingway se muer en "beaux cheveux auburn ramenés en chignon"... Mais on pourrait citer des centaines d'autres exemples. »

Observatoire Narguilé ou Santé : idem. La « technique » est toujours la même.

Jérôme Dupuis (L’Express): « En revanche, c'est en vain qu'on y chercherait le livre de Peter Griffin... Ce dernier n'est cité que dans les notes, à la fin du volume, à une quinzaine de reprises, noyées au milieu de centaines de références, mais uniquement pour des extraits de lettres que PPDA y aurait glanés... »

Observatoire Narguilé ou Santé : Les livres ou la thèse de doctoral de Kamal ne sont même pas cités. La filouterie est encore plus aigue. Bertrand Dautzenberg ayant été censeur (« relecteur ») d’articles proposés à deux revues médicales par Kamal. Après leur mise au pilori, le plagaire les a ensuite pillés intellectuellement. Bertand Dautzenberg et Jean-Yves Nau sont allés encore plus loin en diffamant Kamal (ailleurs que dans leur « bibliographie », cela va de soi).

Jérôme Dupuis (L’Express): « Un mot, au passage, sur cette bibliographie. Sous ses apparences pseudo-universitaires, cette longue liste n'est qu'un leurre. »

Observatoire Narguilé ou Santé : Le « livre » de Bertand Dautzenberg et Jean-Yves Nau, encensé par la grande majorité des « grands » médias français. Deux poids deux mesures ? Le plagiat s’est aussi avéré par la plus grande imposture de la recherche sur le tabac (les auteurs vont jusqu’à confondre une étude sur des barbecues avec une étude sur le narguilé…)

Jérôme Dupuis (L’Express): « Mais qui est ce Griffin ? Un défricheur passionné. Après une thèse consacrée à l'auteur de Paris est une fête, cet Américain avait travaillé des années à son grand oeuvre sur Hemingway. »

Observatoire Narguilé ou Santé : Eh oui, faire une thèse de doctorat (comme Kamal) est très risqué et peu recommandable à présent…   

Jérôme Dupuis (L’Express) : « Alors les "remerciements" de PPDA cacheraient-ils autre chose ? Bernard Marck aurait-il un peu "aidé" l'ex-présentateur du 20 Heures pour ce Hemingway? Et lui ou un autre "collaborateur" aurait-il pillé le Griffin, sans le signaler à PPDA ? »

Observatoire Narguilé ou Santé : Kamal a montré que le plagiat de Bertand Dautzenberg et Jean-Yves Nau est en fait un plagiat collectif qui inclut d’autres noms: entre autres, des « assistants » émargeant à l’Office Français du Tabagisme et d’autres organisations antifumeurs.

CONCLUSIONS

Tirez vos propres conclusions. N’y a-t-il pas une criante hypocrisie, un « Deux poids deux mesures » ? Ces mêmes « grands » médias français avaient donné à l’époque des tribunes à des plagiaires (dont l’un, Jean-Yves Nau était journaliste au journal Le Monde) parce qu’ils mobilisaient les troupes pour une croisade antifumeurs (voir ci-dessous l’article de Nos Libertés) dont nous pouvons, à deux années d'intervalle, juger de l'intelligence. Ces "grans médias" ne se sont jamais excusés.

Bertrand Dautzenberg, France’s Top Antismoking Expert (and also a Renowned Plagiarist) Co-Authors Study on «Third-Hand Smoke»

It is well known that antismoking researchers do not hesitate to rely on gross exaggerations, lies and manipulations of statistical data (numerous examples in Table of Contents) with the objective of touting or speeding up bans on smoking (Prohibition) In the United Kingdom, many will remember that the best example is given by ASH (Action on Smoking and Health) who, a few weeks before the national ban (July 2007), disseminated a communique based on an interview with two major «« waterpipe »»™ antismoking experts : Wasim Maziak and Alan Shihadeh

In France, before our summer holidays humm...., Bertrand Dautzenberg, plagiarist and president of the national antismoking agency “OFT” (Office Français du Tabagisme)[sort of French ASH], came up with a new study he has co-authored:

« What this paper adds » (according to the Tobacco Kontrol journal, not us !) Guess what ?

>> « This study is the first to investigate the hypothesised resuspension of deposited particles of tobacco smoke (‘thirdhand smoke’) » !

Third-Hand Smoke was first “discovered” by tobacco experts investigating cigarettes. So far, no ««waterpipe »» expert has mentioned Shisha Third Hand Smoke, so we’ll refrain from commenting in a field that is not ours. We give below two sources that will be enough for those who wish to undertstand at least what it is about. For information though, First-hand smoke is the one inhaled by the cigarette smoker. Second-hand smoke, the side one (the one that goes up in the air between two puffs).
