Context of the Hookah Cancer War : The US-American University of Beirut (the teams who prepared the WHO report and on which the whole world relies : 1 hookah = 200 cigarettes, you know how the song goes, folks...) has been awarded $3 million by the US National Cancer Institute for more antismoking publications against shisha smoking. By chance, this took place immediately after the release of the dangerously popular study on hookah smoking and cancer byPakistani and French doctors...

In this context, a recent publication reveals that because "the longer duration of a WPS [““Waterpipe””™ Smoking] session leads to a much higher yield of tar, nicotine, carbon monoxide, polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons and heavy metals than cigarette smoking. The water pipe smoker may therefore inhale the equivalent of 100 or more cigarettes." Consequently, [the world top experts] firmly believe that WPS is an important risk factor in the development of several human cancers, especially pancreatic cancer according to Vrieling et al. study"

The "Vrielinget al." study Dr Fouad and his colleagues refers to is already a breakthrough in this field because it clearly shows that exposure to passive smoke from cigarettes causes pancreatic cancer:

Vrieling A, Bueno-de-Mesquita HB, Boshuizen HC, Michaud DS, Severinsen MT, Overvad K, Olsen A, Tjønneland A, Clavel-Chapelon F, Boutron-Ruault MC, Kaaks R, Rohrmann S et al. Cigarette smoking, environmental tobacco smoke exposure and pancreatic cancer risk in the European prospective investigation into cancer and nutrition.

and since the scientific inference that what is true for cigarettes is true for water pipes is also true...

Both pioneering studies have been published in the prestigious International Journal of Cancer (Sept 29 for the "Vrieling et al." study).
