Thank you for the updates and info!!! As you may know, in Calgary there appears to be a ‘permanent exemption’ for ‘private clubs’ while here in Toronto we don’t even have that loophole!!! Although somewhat luckily, here in Toronto (all of Ontario now actually) the definitions include “This Act applies to tobacco in any processed or unprocessed form that may be smoked, inhaled or chewed, including snuff, but does not apply to products intended for use in nicotine replacement therapy. 1994, c. 10, s. 2.

9. (1) No person shall smoke tobacco or hold lighted tobacco in any enclosed public place or enclosed workplace.”
… and the Ontario Municipal Code grants jurisdiction to the municipalities only such that “A municipality may prohibit or regulate the smoking of tobacco in public places and workplaces” (although with the new Ontario-wide laws of course any municipal bylaws are generally trumped and pointless)
… while in Calgary any lit pipe seems to fall under the act, and I can’t (with very cursory investigation) find any specific direction by the province as to what the municipalities are allowed to ban.

Sadly, the UK is following suit with an outright ban on Shisha Smoking be it Tobacco based or Molasses! I find it amazing that the government decide to create such a generalisation of smoking that includes the banning of Herbal Products such as the High Life and Soex brands.

Whatever You're Into, Get Into Shisha
I would rather smoke an Egyptian pipe.
Unfortunately UK smoking bans even cover herbal hookah molasses, such as soex herbal hukka and high-Life smoke. The only way we can offer shisha in a lounge or bar now is to have an outdoor shisha lounge! Great in the summer but what happens when winter sets in!
